A walk around Oraibi and the Christian's

Walking south from Patrick's home, you come to the place where the famous shoving match was held. Here there is a line scraped in the stone you can see it still today. I have never meet a Hopi other than someone from Old Oraibi that has ever seen it. I mean the Hopi's just don't talk to people much out of there own clans. You just have to drag words from them. I have worked with Hopi electrians, there just that way. The story of the shoving match has been told many times in books. So I'll just say it was to see who got to stay on Old Oraibi. The traditionalist won, good over evil, just rings a bell doesn't it. The losers moved to Hotevilla to creat there garbage lined streets and water tower.(new Hopi) The christian started New Oraibi east of Old Oraibi. As you walk farther south you come to bathing area with large holes cut in stone as big as bath tubs, Patrick said each family or clan had one. Heading south you come to cliffs where hierogylphs are, from there you climb down thru hieroglyphs to bottom of cliffs. Before you climb down, looking south you can see San Francisco Peaks and as far west, south, east as you like. Got to love northern Az.. Now heading east you come to the black cliffs facing east. This is where in past the chiefs of Old Oraibi would have to jump to save the people of the village in bad time. Here also is where a new born baby after 21 days is brought to see the sun come up for the first time. from here you head back west past the church the Christian's, at gun point forced Hopi's to build the damn thing. A walk around Old Oraibi and the Christian's. PS church burned to the ground the day completed, lightning.#4
