"Lessons of the 'Popol Vuh' pt. 1"

Today I start from the front of the Popol Vuh. I believe this is one of the most important book ever written. The 'Book of the Hopi', the 'Bible', 'I Ching', 'Book of the Dead' and many more. All are great historical references of "Time" and History. The 'Popol Vuh' has it own unique way of telling the history of mankind. And the fact that mankind always ends up, back where it started from. In the last paragraph it states, 'which is now named Santa Cruz'. Basically saying, same place, new name.

The Popol Vuh uses it characters to tell it's story. Like a epic play of history. From before the Earth was formed, to the current Earth. The best part is, it's use of as few of words as possible. A Short poem can say something. The Bible might take page after page to tell. You will learn about the 'Quich'e people. Of the highlands of Guatemala. Who are a ethnic group in Guatemala. Who speak the Mayan language. Who would later with other Meso American groups. Would become what is known as the Mayans of today. They are the authors of the Popol Vuh, also know as 'Council Book'. A 'seeing instrument', for the telling future events. The Quich'e Lords were given the book. After a pilgrimage from the mountains of Guatemala to the Atlantic ocean.

The first four humans or first four Earthly beings. Could speak the language of the "Gods". They could see everything under the Stars and on the Earth. The first Earthlings were never intended to become the equal of there creators. Thus competing with there creators. They limited there sight to what was abvious and nearby. But they were given a book to over come there nearsightedness. That book was the Popol Vuh.

From the Popol Vuh
'Now it still ripples, now it still murmurs, ripples, it still sighs, still hums and it is empty under the sky.
Here follows the first words, the first eloquence:
There is not one person, one animal, bird, fish, crab, tree, rock, hollow, canyon, meadow, forest. Only the shy alone is there; the face of the earth is not clear. Only the sea alone is pooled under all the sky; there is nothing whatever gathered together. It is at rest; not a single thing stirs. It is held back , kept at rest under the sky.
Whatever there is that might be is simply not there; only the pooled water, only the calm sea, only it alone pooled.
Whatever might be is simply not there: only murmurs, ripples, in the dark, in the night. Only the Maker, Molder alone, Sovereign Plumed Serpent, the Bearer, Begetter are in the water, a glittering light. They are their, they are enclosed in quetzal feathers, in blue green.
Thus the name, "Plumed Serpent". They are great knowers, great thinkers in there very being.'

Here you have the same story as most other cultures do. Of in the beginning there is only water, and space. Now you will see the sequence of the creation of the Earth and it's inhabitants.

And of course there is in the sky, and there is also the Heart of Sky (Hurricane). This is the name of the "God", as it is spoken.
And then came the word, he came here to the Sovereign Plumed Serpent (on or in the sea in the Primordial World), here is the blackness, in the early dawn. He spoke with the Sovereign Plumed Serpent, and they talked, then they thought, then they worried. (To create, how to create, what would happen if they created?) They agreed with each other, they joined there words, there thoughts. Then it was clear, then they reached accord in the light, and then humanity was clear, when they conceived the growth , the generations of trees, of bushes, and the growth of life, of humanity, in the blackness, in the empty dawn, all because of the Heart of Sky named Hurricane. Thunderbolt Hurricane comes first, the second is Newborn Thunderbolt and the third is Sudden Thunderbolt.
So there were three of them, as Heart of Sky, who came to the Sovereign Plumed Serpent, when the dawn of life was conceived.
'How should the sowing be, and the dawning? Who is to be the provider, nurturer?'
'Let it be this way, think about it: this water should be removed, emptied out for the formation of the Earth's own plate and platform, then should come the sowing, the dawning of the Sky-Earth. But there will be no high days and no bright praise for our work, our design, until the rise of the human work, the human design', they said.
And then the Earth arose because of them, it was simply there word that brought it forth. For the forming of the earth they said ;Earth'. It arose suddenly, just like a cloud, like a mist, now forming, unfolding.
Then the mountains were separated from the water, all at once the great mountains came forth. By there genius alone, by there cutting edge alone they carried out the conception of the mountain-plain, whose face grew instant of cypress and pine.
And the Plumed Serpent was pleased with this.
'It was good you came Heart of Sky, Hurricane, and Newborn Thunderbolt, Sudden Thunderbolt. Our work, our design will turn out well', they said.
And the earth was formed first, the mountain-plain. The channels of water were separated; there branches wound there ways among the mountains. The waters were divided when the great mountains appeared.
Such was the formation of Earth when it was brought forth by the Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth, as they are called, since they were the first to think of it. The Sky was set apart and the Earth was set apart in the midst of the waters.
Such was there plan when they though, when they worried about the completion of there work.

So many Native American stories come to mind when you read this part of the Popol Vuh. You can see how close the Hopi Creation story is to this Popol Vuh story. And if it is true the Hopi were the first inhabitants of the Americas. It would stand to reason. All other Native America Creation Stories would be similar. Next come the animals, in the Popol Vuh.

Micmac
There name means 'allies' as the side with the French in the 'French and Indian Wars'. They lived in the Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Islands and New Brunswick area of Canada.

"God" bless bye
allies
